Black Eyed Baby

We moved from St. Louis to Kansas City on a Saturday and the following Monday headed to Walmart for all of our shopping needs. We filled two carts...a little ridiculous but there was a lot of stuff we needed to get. Filling two shopping carts and getting everything we needed resulted in a long stay at Walmart....and way too long to be sitting in a shopping cart for Cohen. He was totally done! Not to mention it was nearing nap time. At the check out line TJ had just finished unloading the first cart with Cohen and was pulling it over to fill it with bagged groceries. I was turned the other way starting to unload the second cart. Cohen stood up just as TJ was pulling the cart quickly towards him and next thing we knew Cohen was face down on the hard floor gasping for a breath. We quickly picked him up and and once he got his breath back he began to scream. We both felt so awful. Luckily there was no blood but we could tell that it was already starting to swell and bruise. TJ finished up with the groceries while I iced Cohen's face. On the way out to the car TJ checked Cohen's face and his eyes were starting to roll so he said we needed to hurry and take him to the hospital in fear of him having a concussion. Problem: We are new in town and have no idea where the hospital is. We ran home and asked our neighbors and they told us where to take him. I sat in the back seat with him the whole time trying to keep him from falling asleep. Once we got to the hospital Cohen acted as if nothing had even happened. He was jumping all over the hospital room...proving exactly why we were there in the first place (the kid has no fear). We spent a good 2 hours at the hospital talking to doctor after doctor...Cohen was proving to be fine but I guess they wanted to monitor us and make sure we weren't beating our child.  Finally we got the go ahead and got this poor little boy down for a much needed nap. I only snapped a few shots of the battle wounds cause I still feel so bad...I think I was crying as much when we left the store as he was. 

Baby Shower & Goodbye Party

Before we left St. Louis my friends through me a baby shower and goodbye party. It was such a fun night and I miss them all so much.

Elder Thomas and Cousins

One of our very favorite missionaries celebrated a birthday while he was here so we got him his favorite (little caesars pizza) pizza and I made him a yellow cake with chocolate frosting. We sure do miss him!

My cousin Angela and her husband also stopped by on their way back to school. It was so fun to see them.  We love having visitors so stop by and see us anytime.

Omaha: Part 2

While we were all together we had to get a few family pictures taken. Each family wore a different color and I think it turned out super cute. TJ's favorite color is orange so we always get stuck with orange. Oh well.

2009 Babies

This was the best shot we could get of just he grandkids. They were so done and could no longer even be bribed by fruit snacks. (pretty sure we went through a whole box during this photo session).

After our family photos we headed to the Pizza Machine in our semi-matching clothes. Made me feel a little like the Vontrap family. The Pizza Machine is so awesome (kind of a glorified chucky cheese) and is a must do if you are ever in Omaha. Pizza buffet with lots of other yummy food including endless Icees and soft serve, and lots of fun games and rides for the kiddos.

After pizza machine the boys went to play a little softball. Here are a few action shots of my hubby.

Later that night we explored downtown and walked to the pedestrian bridge. You can walk from Nebraska to Iowa. After the long walk to the bridge I only made it half way and didn't go to the Iowa state line.

We had such a fun week with my family! I love it when we all get together. I'm blessed to have such an amazing family who I consider to be my very best friends. Can't wait see you all again!!!

Anderson Family Reunion: Omaha Part 1

At the end of June me and my side of the family all got together in Omaha for some quality family time and college world series baseball. I only went to one game and that was enough for me (my sciatic nerve hurt for weeks after sitting on the steel bleachers). We had so much fun though and I loved getting to see my family especially all my cute little nieces and nephews. It was fun to have Cohen play with his all of his cousins. It was crazy (9 kids under the age of 5) but oh so much fun!

Sunday after church we went to the Winter Quarters visitors center. The picture above is all of our 2009 babies.

The whole fam! You think we have enough kids? Apparently not cause we're adding two more to this crazy bunch.

Some of the most important men in my life. It was also Fathers' Day so it was fun to celebrate with all of them.

After the visitors center we went over to my Uncle Jimmy and Aunt Sandy's house for dinner. Did they know what they were in for when they invited all 19 of us? Apparently so because there was plenty of delicious food and toys for the kids to play with. It was so good to see them again. (Cohen was not participating in this picture).

One morning my mom took us all to get pedicures and we left the boys on kid duty. Pedicure and a break from being on mommy watch...best idea ever!

Later that day we headed to the pool for a nice swim.

We also ate a Stella's, a well know burger joint in Omaha, and it was delicious...

Wouldn't be a trip to Omaha without visiting their awesome zoo! It is by far the best zoo I've ever been too...check out our stroller train! Toot toot!
