Student Dr. TJ

I just had to include this cute picture of Cohen walking Ledger to nursery. He is such a good big brother. 

On June 7th TJ received his white coat and signed their class code of ethics to make him eligible to now practice dentistry in the school's clinic. It was a nice ceremony. They had them sign on stage then gave them their coats off stage. Lame. We totally couldn't see him get coated. 

 I snapped this picture of him when he came back around to his seat though.

Pops and Gem were so sweet and came on Wednesday so I could sneak away to girls camp for a couple of days. The kids were in heaven and loved every moment with their Papa and GG. 

TJ's mom was also able to come in for the ceremony and Jay made it over that night for the dinner celebration. 

 I look really awful in this picture, but I had to include it to show I was there and TJ looks so handsome. I'm so proud of him and all of his hard work over the past two years. It is great to be in 3rd year! TJ is loving clinic, and doing awesome. 

I had to include these two pictures as well. It just shows how much these boys adore their Papa and GG.  I love that Pops is giggling in the second one. 

Side story. The other day Cohen was telling me that when he grows up he's going to be a doctor. I asked him if he was going to be a dentist like daddy, and he said, "no, a real doctor!" It was pretty funny and I tease TJ about not being a "real doctor!"

The Rest of Our May

For Cohen's Preschool we did a couple of field trips the last couple of weeks. The first one we did was going to Deanna Rose Farm. If this place was closer we would go at least once a week. Cohen fed cows, and goats, fish, ducks and turtles. And it is free to the public on all week days.

These two love each other, even though they hate to admit it sometimes.

After finals, and before diving in to study mode again for boards, TJ decided he wanted to take Cohen out for a little father-son bonding time. They went to the store and got treats, went to see the Croods, then went back to the store to get Cohen a new soccer ball. He was in Heaven, and still talks about it all the time.

We headed to the park to play soccer, but the toys won. We made them play for a couple minutes then let them go play. I love this picture of Ledger at the park. 

For our next field trip we went to Johnson County Children's Museum. Also free. They have a bunch of little kid playhouses. Dr.'s Office, Post Office, Theater, Park, Salon, and etc. They kids loved playing pretend for hours in them.

I wanted to take advantage of all my time with TJ before he got back to serious studying for boards. One of our dates from our anniversary package was trail riding. My neighbor watched the kids and we headed out for a ride. Yeehaw. It was pretty easy riding, but we still had fun, and it was nice to do something different then just dinner and a movie. 

After the horse ride, I was exhausted. Probably cause I didn't get a nap that day. Oh, how I love my naps! Luckily this boy loves naps too and took a little snoozer with me. 

For our Birthdays Spencer and Nikki and their family got us all a gift card to Coldstone Creamery. We went out and got a yummy treat. To say the boys loved it would be an understatement. They are obsessed with ice-cream. 

When you can't get it fast enough with the dinky spoon they give you just drink it!

Cheese!

One night we went and bought an air mattress for guests. We decided to have a family sleepover downstairs and watch a movie. Ledgie didn't make it the whole time and had to go to his bed for everyones sake, including his own. 

We also got to go to the UMKC night at the Royals game again this year. We decided to take Cohen, but I wish we wouldn't have bought him a ticket. He didn't eat any food and there were more than enough empty seats all around us. He loved it though and had such a fun time cheering for the Cardinals. Cards won again this year!

This little boy has started to love books. He is learning so much so fast. His vocabulary is expanding everyday and it is so fun to watch him grow and be able to communicate. 

We also celebrated Mother's Day in May. I didn't take any pictures. We had a relaxing day complete with lots of time outside and a long Sunday nap. Cohen did come home with the cutest questionnaire he filled out about me and I didn't want to forget it.

All about my Mom

My mom is 3 years old.

My mom weighs 40-50-60 pounds.

If my mom had a hard time, she would love to eat fruit loops.

I love my mom because she loves me. 

He did pretty good! It melted my heart a little. I have the sweetest boys in the whole world and I feel so lucky to get to be their mom!

Finally All Caught Up!!!

I made it! I was a year and a half behind on my blog and I finally caught up! Now the hard part is going to be sticking with it and staying caught up. The other project I want to start working on now is putting my blog into books to get printed off.  What companies have you used or heard good things about for printing your blog? Give me any advise you have. Please!

In other news, TJ is done with finals and not a moment too soon because I got really sick the day he finished. I'm on the recovery side now, but I was glad he was home and able to help so I could get the rest I needed. TJ did really well this semester and I'm so proud of him and all of his hard work! He is now officially a 3rd year and we made it through the dreaded 2nd year. It wasn't as bad for me as everyone made it seem, but I'm hoping we get to see him more over the next two years. 

Summer Cut

This cute boy has always had amazing hair. I grew it out after he turned one but it was not quite thick enough to look really good. So this fall after our family pictures I grew it out again. He loved his long hair and really didn't want me to cut it. I loved it too, but it was getting pretty shaggy and in need of a trim. I didn't trust myself to trim it and I didn't want to pay to have it trimmed then end up cutting it because I didn't like it or it was too hot anyway. He came to me and said he wanted to cut his hair, so we did it right then before he changed his mind and I changed mine.

After shot. He looks so much older with his hair cut short. It has been 90 degrees the past couple days though so I'm sure he's glad to have all that hair gone. He's such a good boy and we love him lots. Today he told me that I stink. When I told him that wasn't a very nice thing to say, he said, "oh, sorry mom, you just stink a little tiny bit." What would I do without him? Stink I guess.  

Temple Run & Finals

Every year in Kansas City, since they announced our temple would be built here, they have a 5k Temple run. We didn't do it last year but heard it was lots of fun so we signed up. It was really raining and cold and we had decided we weren't going to go. Then the morning of I decided we should bundle up and do it. It was a lot of fun and I got my best 5k time yet, which is still slow. At least I'm running though. TJ pushed the boys and finished just a little after me. In the last mile he told me he felt like he was going to throw up. I probably should have stayed with him but at that point I took off. I ran back as soon as I finished though to make sure he was coming. After the race we talked about it and I realized it was very nice but I was in running mode and I wasn't going to let anything break my focus.

Cohen has always had great hair, and a lot of it. It is big. Every time he wakes up it looks like this. It is crazy and finally got cut. (next post with details and before and after shots)

TJ started finals on May 1st. He has 14 tests in 17 days and took a few finals before May as well. We decided to give him a quiet house free of distractions and headed over to St. Louis for a week. He posted this picture in reference to finals and I thought it was funny. 

We didn't waste anytime in St. Louis and had such a fun trip. We started with a Cinco de Mayo dinner on Sunday right after we arrived. On Monday morning we headed to the Zoo. The boys loved seeing all the animals. The elephants and the cheetah were our favorites on this trip.

Wednesday we went out to the Bunnell Family Farm near Union. This was such a fun trip out there. Papa caught a turtle and we played with him for a while.

Papa also caught a snake and killed it. Cohen was obsessed with the snake and tells everyone about how his Papa killed a snake with a stick.

These two were buddies, and Papa had a shadow all week long. Cohen loves to be busy and Papa let him follow him around all week long and be his "helper."

Ledger was not the biggest fan of the paddle boat, lawnmower, or tractor. 

He warmed up after a while and tolerated a few laps around the pond. We also found tadpoles, climbed the treehouse, mowed the big lawn, fed the fish, and played with all the rocks and sticks we could find. It was so nice to just let them run free and explore, and they loved it. 

Nana rented the movie Rise of the Guardians and Cohen loved it. We watched it two nights in a row because he refused to watch anything else. Ledger was just entranced by Nana's huge TV.

We had so much fun playing with our family in St. Louis and the week was over before we knew it. We were sad to leave but excited to get home to see TJ. He now only has two days left of finals and we cannot wait for him to be done!
